Pavillon - Sculpture
Memory, given form
Before music became invisible, there was the gramophone horn, the pavillon an open throat of brass that did not create sound, but received it. This piece borrows that gesture entirely. Formed from paper mesh, Pavillon holds no sealed surface, no boundary between herself and the world. Light enters her. Shadow reconstitutes her. She is the same object at dawn and at dusk, and entirely different as all things are, when built to carry resonance rather than weight.
